In-Home Newborn Photoshoot – Scott Family

I am such a fan of an in-home newborn photoshoot. I believe that our photos always mean a bit more when they are taken in a place that holds special memories for us. Yes, beautiful landscapes or a clean studio have their places, but particularly for newborn photos I think that your own home is the perfect spot. You will look back at these photos and remember the snuggles on the couch, how you watched them grow from swaddles in the crib to standing at the bars.

Jacqueline had the whole shoot planned out and ready before I arrived. I loved her vision for it and how prepared she was. It truly helped the whole process to go smoothly. With coordinating outfits on, we began in sweet Harper’s nursery cuddling in the rocker. Big brother was allowed to jump in and out as he pleased. They trusted my toddler knowledge (I’ve got a few at home myself) and were calm and easy going with whatever happened. We took snack breaks as Harper needed them which allowed a reset and rest for everyone. Because of how relaxed everyone was we were able to get solo shots, parent photos, have outfit changes, add in props, and even grab photos with the grandparents who were present.

To me, life with a newborn is crazy and all about adaptability. An in-home newborn photoshoot really hones in on that experience. I always tell my clients that I am comfortable doing a basic swaddle wrap, but nothing more. No baby poses, no age requirement (although I do recommend within the first month, but not necessarily the first two weeks). In-home newborn photoshoots are about real life and focusing on this season of life. I think we nailed that. But see for yourself.
