I love what we have transformed the word elopement to mean. It used to mean running away without telling anyone. When we were getting married, Cory thought eloping meant just going to the courthouse. And while that’s not necessarily untrue, eloping has evolved to mean a small, intimate ceremony which may or may not include friends and family.
And I am here for it.
Brad and Laura chose to elope at Blowing Springs Park. Only their moms were witnesses and Brad’s friend Mark was their minister. It was an incredibly sweet and intimate time with no sense of rush and hurry that you can feel at a traditional wedding. They chose to hold their ceremony back near the natural spring (which cooled off the air by at least ten degrees!) and when Laura couldn’t see if it was time for her to make her entrance yet, a helpful passerby at the park stood in as temporary coordinator for her.
Every time we moved from location to location for photos there were groups congratulating Brad and Laura. They also made sure to move out of our shot without us even asking. Between the perfect weather, their handpicked guests, and the supportive strangers, I don’t think Brad and Laura could have asked for a more blessed start to their marriage.
The Elopement
My own misconception about eloping was that it only happens at the beach or in the mountains – you know, *destination* places. But dang, Arkansas is pretty beautiful. There’s a reason it’s called the Natural State.
Brad and Laura chose to have their union begin at Blowing Springs Park in Bella Vista. You can learn more about the park here.
