Do you know what makes an AirBnB wedding at the top of my list for favorite venues? It’s the peace. There is something just so relaxing about spending a weekend in a cabin with your closest friends and family. About taking time together in a way that a traditional venue cannot offer. Cooking meals side-by-side with your mom, chatting around the fire after the sun sets, waking up without a hurry and knowing that everything and everyone you need is right there with you. That’s the kind of peace that you should bring into a wedding. The kind of peace that you want to build your marriage upon. We were created with need for a village, and surrounding yourself with your village, not just for 12 rushed hours on the day of the wedding but for 2-3 relaxed days, creates an atmosphere of calm and joy and excitement that truly cannot be matched.
Caanon & Matt
Caanon & Matt’s airbnb wedding at Heart Haven in Rogers, AR was everything an intimate, yet full celebration could ask for. The relaxed atmosphere, the peaceful nature (literally), and the overjoyed people made for a winning combination. There’s a peace and freedom that a non-traditional wedding venue gives, and an AirBnB is a perfect place to find it. Caanon & Matt were able to spend the weekend with their friends and family right next to them. Meals shared, supportive words surrounding them, reception napkins folded together, nature explored, and a leisurely pace was set for what would be an epic weekend. From the bubble machines, to the handwritten vows, to the serenity during prep, to the woodsy first look, to the portraits on the dock, to the packed ceremony, to the cozy reception, to the hopping dance floor, to the late night swim – every moment was intentionally curated in an atmosphere of joy.
And I know what you’re thinking. “Morgan, you just described peace and relaxation – how can it have been epic as well?” I’m not going to tell you that you had to be there, because I believe the pictures will tell the story themselves. But know this, the first step to making your celebration one of complete joy, tranquility, and epicness is the people. You set the tone with your own demeanor. But the people you surround yourselves with can enhance or dampen the atmosphere quickly. So find the people who are going to bring the excitement up and encourage you every step of the way. (hint hint, one of my favorite parts of the job is being a professional hype girl)
My Point
So that’s a lot of words to say: book the AirBnB wedding. In over a decade of photographing weddings, I have yet to hear of anyone who regretted going this non-traditional route. You can still have the traditions – the first looks, the guests, the dinner and dancing. But you can also create a sense of calm and tranquility that you just don’t get with the rush of a traditional wedding venue.
A huge thank you to Evan with Evan Hopman Photography for asking me to help out with this one. Matt & Cannon’s wedding at Heart Haven is one of my favorite weddings to date.
